Bird tables and their creation have a long tradition, just like embroidery. Let us get enchanted by the old times of long winter evenings when families used to weave and embroider by the light of oil lamps, when winters were colder and people knew that spring might not come without respect for the forces of nature.
Bird tables were once made mainly by boys, while embroidery was a pastime for girls. Treat your children to both these activities and forget about gender stereotypes. Bring sunflower seeds, flax seeds, millet, oats, wheat or poppy seeds (and a cup, perhaps one of grandma’s) and join us in the gallery. We will draw inspiration from their colours and shapes, and will create original bird tables for frosty winter days that will enable (not only) you to watch winter wildlife.
Sunday programme for families with children is inspired by the current exhibition Heroic vs. Holistic.
