When I was a little girl, I used to meet them everywhere. On the way to and from school. In our yard, in the streets of our town, in the school garden, in a friend’s home. One moment they were everywhere, and then they suddenly disappeared. They were simply gone. Some might say that they probably found their dream homes or ran back to the woods and became real wild cats. But the truth is, I don’t meet them anymore, and I really miss them…
The sight of these beautiful animals and the feeling when you touch them inconspicuously or stroke their soft fur when nobody is looking is just great. However, they don’t always like it and when I was a child it was usually forbidden. You could catch a disease from them. But I wasn’t afraid. Of course they sometimes hiss and sometimes purr and are all over you. At least for a while they stop at your feet and wind themselves around your legs. And you feel as if the world has stopped for a moment. And then they pull out their claws again and scratch. They are city cats after all…

Let’s make beds for them in the city so that we can start meeting them again in our favourite places. We will work with natural materials such as wool, and will also use some recycled material from old sweaters. And together we will create a place where cats will feel good. If the weather is nice, we can place the beds in the Husův sad park.
Kristína Polakovičová is a Slovak fashion designer, founder of the Chriss Pola brand. She grew up in Bratislava and later moved to the Czech Republic. She was influenced by Czechoslovak artists, mainly those around the Charter 77 group, as well as by her grandfather, his understanding of the world and great spirit. Kristína feels the need to return to everyday life beautiful materials with equally beautiful names such as silk, poplin, brocade, wool… She tries to satisfy her insatiable curiosity and to come constantly with new ideas. She says: “I’m for rational design. It’s not about minimalism but about the reduction of parts. Everything should have a purpose.”
